Tata fab progress through 2026

The fab is Dholera's load-bearing fact, so its progress log deserves precision rather than cheerleading. Here is 2026's, entry by entry.
The construction facts
Ground broke in March 2024; by spring 2026 multiple reports placed civil work past fifty percent with the project moving into the phase that actually makes a fab a fab: cleanroom fit-out and tool installation. The ASML partnership matters precisely here: lithography systems are the heart of any fab's toolset, and the partnership graduated from press-reported MoU to confirmation on Tata Electronics' own newsroom, which in our tier system moves it to green.
The node clarification, without the drama
Mid-2026 coverage made noise of the 90nm-first plan versus 2024's 28nm headlines. The company's framing: the ramp was always mature-nodes-first (90 and 55), with 28nm following. Industry practice agrees: new fabs commission on forgiving processes, and India's near-term demand (automotive, power management, industrial) lives exactly at those nodes. What a land buyer should extract: the employment and ecosystem story is unchanged; the timeline honesty is that commercial production now reads mid-2028, with late-2026 reserved for trial silicon. Both dates are targets and labelled so.
The ecosystem entries
April 2026: the SEZ notification formalises the fab's surrounding zone with its ~21,000-job framing. May 2026: the Cabinet clears two further semiconductor units for Gujarat (one at Dholera). June 2026: Fujifilm's exploratory materials MoU. Individually small next to Rs 91,000 cr; collectively the supplier-cluster pattern taking its first visible steps, logged with their labels on the money map.
